I've spent years doing SEO for Webflow sites — and getting frustrated by generic SEO advice that doesn't account for how Webflow actually works.
The Story Behind the Checklist
Most SEO guides are written for WordPress. They ignore Webflow's specific implementation details, its CMS structure, its code output, and its hosting quirks. When I was optimizing Webflow sites, I kept running into the same problem: no single resource addressed Webflow SEO comprehensively.
So I built one. The Webflow SEO Checklist started as a personal reference document — a running list of every SEO task I completed on client projects, annotated with Webflow-specific implementation notes. Over time, it grew into the most comprehensive Webflow SEO reference available.
What I Focus On
My approach to Webflow SEO combines three areas:
- Technical SEO — making sure Webflow's code output is clean, fast, and crawlable
- Content strategy — building content that ranks and satisfies user intent
- AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) — preparing Webflow sites for AI-generated answers in Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Google's AI Overviews
The SEO to AEO Shift
Search is changing. AI answer engines are becoming the first stop for many queries that used to go to Google. The checklist now includes a dedicated AEO section — covering everything from FAQ schema and key takeaway boxes to llms.txt implementation and LLM citation monitoring.
The goal isn't to chase the new thing. It's to build sites that are so well-structured and authoritative that they succeed in any search environment — traditional or AI-driven.
